Armenia: Sirusho to sing Qele Qele in Belgrade / Armênia: Sirusho cantará 'Qele Qele' em Belgrado
The singer to represent Armenia in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, Sirusho, had been selected already in November 2007. Tonight, her song was picked in a special TV show out of four proposals. The public and an expert jury decided in favour of the composition Qele Qele.
As Sirusho was appointed the Armenian representative in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest already last year, there was enough time to focus on finding the best and most suitable song for her to sing in Belgrade. In an open competition, songwriters, who needed to have the Armenian citizenship, could send in their proposals. An expert jury picked four of them together with Sirusho, which were all presented in a TV show tonight. Apart from the presentation of Sirusho's songs, the show also featured performances of the most famous Armenian singers. Of course, Hayko, the Armenian representative in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with Anytime You Need, was one of them, too.

The winning composition
After the songs had been presented, the TV viewers were asked for their verdict by SMS voting, as well as an expert jury. In the end, they decided that Sirusho should sing Qele Qele in Belgrade. The song is a mixture of ethnic sounds and contemporary pop music. It starts like a ballad with a verse in Armenian language, building up to an up-tempo pop song with lyrics which are mostly in English. Armenia will compete in the first Semi-Final of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, taking place on 20th May in Belgrade.
A cantora que irá representar a Armênia no Eurovision Song Contest 2008, Sirusho, já havia sido selecionada em novembro de 2007. Nesta noite, sua música foi escolbhida em um programa especial de tv entre quatro opções. Segundo público e um jurado especial, a canção escolhida foi 'Qele Qele'.
Como Sirusho foi escolhida como representante armênia para o Eurovision Song Contest já no ano passado, houve tempo suficiente para se concentrar qual seria a melhor música a se apresentar em Belgrado. Na competição inicial, compositores, que necessitavam ter cidadania armênia, puderam enviar suas propostas. Um júri especializado escolheu quatro delas com Sirusho, sendo apresentadas em um show de tv nesta noite. Juntamente à apresentação das músicas de Sirusho, houve também performances de famosos cantores armênios. E claro, Hayko, representante da Armênia em 2007, com 'Anytime You Need', também garantiu presença.

Após apresentação das músicas, os telespectadores puderam dar seus votos através de SMS, assim como aos jurados. No final, foi decidido que Sirusho deveria cantar 'Qele Qele' em Belgrado. A música é uma mistura de sons étnicos e música pop contemporânea. Inicia-se com uma balada cantada na língua armênia, misturando-se um up-tempo com frases em inglês. Armênia irá competir na primeira semi-final do Eurovision Song Contest 2008, que será realizado em 20 de maio, em Belgrado.
